Detailed photo of fixings for Newell posts
Summer 2008 started the deck in front of the sun lounge at the cottage. Set the metal post supports into poured concrete (1m deep by 200mm diameter holes).
The beams consisted of two 150mm by 50mm timbers bolted either side of the posts (100mm by 100mm) to support the decking frame.
All beams in place and shingle over a weed suppressing fabric layed down.
The 100mm x 100mm posts have been cut to the level of the beams and treated with end grain wood preserver.
The decking frame, again 100mm by 50mm timber and noggins in place.
Newell posts (100mm by 100mm Redwood planed and chamfered) in place.
